Doyle Favoured To Return

Barnsley should try and sign Hull City midfielder Nathan Doyle again in January.

That's the opinion of 69 per cent of voters on Vital Barnsley. The poll was posted over a week ago after Doyle's departure from Oakwell after a 3 month loan spell and your votes have been collected to show a majority in favour of Doyle returning in the new year.

Doyle made eleven appearances for Barnsley after signing for three months in September on an emergency loan and impressed with some solid performances as a defensive midfielder. While he doesn't have the quick thinking ability to find an incisive pass he is a tenacious tackler, something that the Barnsley faithful have always appreciated.

When questioned on the subject of Doyle returning in January for a further spell at the club, Barnsley boss Mark Robins told the club's official website 'It depends on his parent club, it depends on Hull, what they want to do with him, but he has done well for us while he was here.'

On one hand, the performances under Robins so far may have indicated to Barnsley Football Club owner Patrick Cryne that the current squad, with the addition of a couple of loanees, is more than capable of sustaining the club's Championship status. However on the other hand it may encourage him to make some cash available for Robins to spend in January, with expectations of a play-off push growing amongst the Oakwell faithful.
