Barnsley Career:
Jamal was signed by Simon Davey from Southend on deadline day in the summer of 2007 for an undisclosed fee.
Jamal made an instant impact after joining the Reds and made 42 apeparances in his first season, playing on either wing and terrorising defences throughout the Championship. He was part of the teams that enjoyed the brilliant F.A. Cup run of 2008 and even struck a superb winner in the fourth round at Roots Hall against his former club Southend United to set up a date with Liverpool for the Reds.
2008/09 was even better for Jamal as he made another 41 appearances, this time finishing as joint top scorer with Jon Macken on 9 goals. He narrowly missed out on the Player of the Season award, losing out to a worthy winner in Bobby Hassell.
Jamal is fast closing in on a century of appearances for the Reds, having made a total of 98, scoring thirteen goals.
