Iain was signed by Simon Davey from Burnley in June 2008 for a fee of £1.2m. It was the club's most expensive signing since Mike Sheron in 1999.
Iain was excellent from the off in his first season at Barnsley, scoring on his debut in the 2-1 defeat to QPR and knocking in a blinder in the club's first victory of the season, a 2-0 win over Derby County. He scored another great long range effort as the Reds demolished their local rivals Doncaster Rovers 4-1 with just 10 men at Oakwell and also earned himself more plaudits by scoring against our other local rivals Sheffield Wednesday
Iain was injured for the majority of the 2008/09 season with a fractured skull after an aerial challenge with Chris Morgan's elbow for which the former red received just a yellow card. He made excellent progress with his rehabilitation and almost made an appearance at Plymouth on the final day of the season but manager Simon Davey decided to rest him.
To date, Iain has made a total of 34 appearances for the Reds, scoring six goals.
