Barnsley Career:
Hugo was signed by Simon Davey from Newell's Old Boys in the summer of 2008 although his international clearance did not come through for a ridiculous 2 months after he was signed, meaning he missed the start of the 08/09 season. He is a defensive midfielder by trade but has natural ability on the ball so he can make some incisive passes too. Hugo was part of the Argentina squad that finished fourth in the 2003 Under 20's World Cup, playing alongside Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez.
When the paper work for Colace's move to Barnsley finally came through, he made his debut in a 1-0 defeat to Blackpool at Bloomfield Road in September, before going on to clock up a total of 35 appearances for the Reds in that campaign.
To date, Hugo has made a total of 49 appearances for the Reds, scoring just once, the winner in the victory over Burnley in the Carling Cup at Oakwell.
