Morgan Misses Monday

Almost a year to the day after Barnsley's Iain Hume was hospitalised by Sheffield United's captain Chris Morgan, the Sky cameras come to Oakwell to cover the very same fixture but this time Morgan won't be there.

Sheffield United's skipper picked up his fifth yellow card of the season at Bramall Lane when they lost to Newcastle on Monday, so he is automatically suspended for their visit to Oakwell this Monday.

It means that there will be no chance for Iain Hume to get stuck into him, in retaliation for the challenge that almost cost Hume is life.

In November 2008, during the match between the two rivals at Oakwell, Morgan fractured Hume's skull with an elbow to the head while both players were stood on the ground. Yes you read that correctly. Some sites report that 'Hume fractured his skull in a collision.' Wrong. And no it's not semantics. Hume did not fracture his own skull. He did not run into someone's elbow. The elbow was forced into his temple, causing internal bleeding. Chris Morgan fractured Iain Hume's skull. That's what happened. The only question nobody but Chris Morgan can definitively answer is whether or not it was intentional. Watch the footage and make up your mind.

The question of Morgan deliberately picking up a booking in order to avoid a nasty reception at Oakwell has been hotly refuted by Blades chief Kevin Blackwell, who called it 'nonesense'. Then again, he would say that wouldn't he.
