Devaney A Don

Mark Robins has agreed to allow Reds winger Martin Devaney to go on a month`s loan to League 1 outfit MK Dons.

The 29 year old winger is the third player to be loaned out since Robins took charge at Oakwell, following Michael Coulson out of the Oakwell door, who is at Chester City and Kayode Odejayi who is making something of a name for himself at Colchester United.

Devaney has featured just twice under Robins` regime and will be looking to get some first team football under his belt at MK Dons, who currently occupy one of the League 1 Play-Off spots. Devaney has previous experience of League 1 with Barnsley. He joined the Reds in the summer of 2005 and helped them gain promotion back to the Championship under Andy Ritchie`s guidance through the Play-Offs in 2006.

Since the arrival of Adam Hammill from Liverpool, Devaney has found first team action hard to come by at Oakwell and should play a bigger part for Paul Ince`s side, who narrowly missed out on promotion to the Championship themselves last year, losing to Scunthorpe United in the Play-Offs.

Devaney has made 160 appearances for the Reds and is their top scorer with 18 goals.

I personally would be sad to see Devaney leave the club as he has played a major part in much of our recent successes, crossing for Paul Hayes` opener in the Play-Off Final at Cardiff and again for Foster`s equaliser at Anfield and Odejayi`s winner over Chelsea, but at 29 it may unfortunately be time for him to bow out of the Championship and get some games at a level he can be consistent at.
