Match Preview: Barnsley V Burnley

Barnsley's 'plumb draw' in the third round might turn out to have something of a bitter taste.

After being drawn at home for the first time in a long while in the League Cup and looking forward to the prospect of entertaining Premier League opposition albeit in the form of new boys Burnley, the Reds' next game has come a little bit too soon.

Injuries are rife at Oakwell at the moment with no less than four first team players on the treatment table for various ailments ranging from achilles problems to blurred vision.

Mark Robins is still looking at the loan market and may even be bringing in Slovenian defender Suad Filekovic before tomorrow's game as cover for a decimated backline.

Although Darren Moore's tor injury has all but cleared up, Barnsley's player of the Year Bobby Hassell is now out with an achilles problem and Emil Halfredsson is also a big doubt having missed the match against Swansea City.

Andy Gray is cup tied having played for Charlton in the earlier rounds and the same goes for Nathan Doyle, who helped Hull City through their 3-1 second round victory over Southend United in August.

Daniel Bogdanovic has trained this week but remains a doubt whilst Jamal Campbell-Ryce is still suffering from blurred vision in one eye after being struck by the ball in the match against Watford.

Owen Coyle's Burnley side were beaten twice by the Reds last term, 3-2 at Oakwell and 2-1 at Turf Moor and so will come looking for some form of revenge - if they really need it having been promoted via the Play-offs over Sheffield United.
