Reading Reward for Tykes in Round 2

After a stern test away at Lincoln City, the Reds have been drawn away again in the Leeague Cup Second Round, this time to fellow Championship side Reading.

The Reds battled hard at Sincil Bank, firing no less than 10 shots on target but only Daniel Bogdanovic managed to find the net on 73 minutes, crashing the ball into the roof of the goal after capitalising on a mistake from defender Kovacs.

Reading hardly sneaked through the first round. They were drawn at home to newly promoted Burton Albion and plundered 5 goals to Burton's 1.

Not the tie either club would have been looking for given the entry of the non-European footballing Premier League clubs at this stage, the match is set to be played in the week beginning August 24th.

Barnsley have not made it to the third round of the League Cup since the 2001/2002 season when victories over Halifax Town and Colchester United set them up for a 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle United, a team who also enter at this stage.
