Hammill Signs For Barnsley

After a long summer and months of chasing, Barnsley have finally captured their main close-season target Adam Hammill from Liverpool.

It has taken a few months to pry the youngster away from the merseyside giants but Simon Davey and Barnsley football club have struck a deal that will keep the talented winger at the club for 3 years.

It was no secret that Hammill was a target after his successful loan spell at Oakwell at the end of last season but the chase has been well and truly on since the final day to convince the young starlet that his immediate future lay at Barnsley.

Davey has fought off stiff competition in the form of Leeds United to gain the latest addition to his squad and spoke of his delight in making the signing to the club's official website: 'Adam is a fantastic prospect and one we are delighted to bring to Oakwell on a permanent basis.'

Hammill struck a chord with everyone at Oakwell last season with his excellent performances on the wing and an all important goal at Plymouth Argyle on the last day of the season.

To bring in someone of Adam's pedigree is a testament to Simon Davey and shows just how hard he has worked in the transfer market to bring in someone he knows will add to the squad he has built so far.
