Davey Still On The Hunt For Talent

With less than 24 hours to go until the Championship kicks off for another season, Barnsley manager Simon Davey is still scrambling to try and bring in players to the club with one of the smallest squads in the football league.

By his own admission, Davey has not brought in as many players as he would have liked, bringing in just a substitute goalkeeper in David Preece and a relatively unknown quantity in York City striker Onome Sodje, but he remains in the chase for more signings as the transfer window stays open.

Adam Hammill and Emil Hallfredsson are reported to be on the verge of signing deals with the Reds but they don't look likely to go through in time for tomorrow's match.

Simon Davey has be quoted a few times saying that this year the transfer market has been an infinitely frustrating place as clubs are hanging on to players longer or trying to force higher transfer fees out of buying clubs.

Speaking to the club's official website Simon said that: 'a transfer fee goes from Ronald McDonald to Ronaldinho when you express an interest,' and 'we don't want the wool pulling over our eyes as a club.'

Fans have had to remain patient with the manager who has had limited funds to spend and had to lean down his squad this summer in order to give the youngsters more of a chance to break into the first team.
