Davey Happy With Tykes Final Test

Barnsley had just one more game to go before the real season begins and had saved the toughest test until last.

Mark Hughes brought his millions to Oakwell to show off a couple of new signings and in front of a bumper crowd, they didn't disappoint.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw but for long periods in the game, relative minnows Barnsley matched their opponents.

Simon Davey, speaking to the club's official website, praised his side's performance: We rode our luck at times... ...but I was very, very pleased with our performance.'

He added: 'We have gone through pre-season undefeated but I would swap every one of those wins and today's draw for a victory at Sheffield Wednesday next weekend.'
