Vital Barnsley's Goal of the Season

Top 4 Barnsley Goals This Season:

Goal 1: Iain Hume at home to Derby County, 30th August 2008.

Hume sparked off Barnsley's first victory of the campaign with this cracking effort in front of thr Ponty end. A free kick to Barnsley produced a long punt into the Derby box which wasn't cleared well enough, Hume ran forward to meet the ball as it trickled away from the goalkeepers area and smashed a volley into the top left corner with the outside of the right foot from 20 yards.

Goal 2: Campbell-Ryce at home to Doncaster Rovers, 4th October 2008.

In a topsy turvy game, complete with a sending off, a penalty and 5 goals Campbell-Ryce produced a goal that some players only dream of scoring. A Doncaster Rovers attack ended with a tame effort straight at Barnsley keeper Heinz Muller, who immediately spotted Campbell Ryce to his left and threw the ball out to the winger. He proceeded to sprint from box to the box with the ball, beating three Rovers players on the way before cutting inside and sending the ball past Sullivan into the far bottom corner to put Barnsley 2-1 up, much to the delight of the Barnsley supporters.

Goal 3: Iain Hume at home to Doncaster Rovers, 4th October 2008.

With Barnsley 3-1 up at home to their bitter local rivals, Doncaster Rovers were stretched late on in the game leaving Anderson Da Silva space to run straight through the middle of the park and pick out Iain Hume ahead of him. Hume received the ball 25 yards from goal, set himself and completed the result with a right foot effort into the top right corner.

Goal 4: Brian Howard at home to Coventry City, 16th August 2008.

Erstwhile Barnsley captain Brian Howard scored the Tykes' first goal at Oakwell of the 2008/2009 season and what a goal it was. Gary Teale crossed into the box from the right and Howard met it first time with a left footed half volley which crashed into the top right corner giving Coventry keeper Westood no chance.

Hopefully he'll be back next season. I'd go for JCR versus Donny at home. Box-to-box run, skipping challenges like he was in the 400m hurldles, then curling it under Sullivan. The loudest I heard Oakwell until Macken's goal against Wolves.
