There Is Moore To Know

THERE IS MOORE TO KNOW

The England Football Team is spearheading a drive to raise awareness of bowel cancer, the second most common cause of cancer deaths in the UK, killing 44 people each day.

The campaign 'There is Moore to know' will feature a series of striking and powerful images with stars of the England team, Theo Walcott, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, David James, Micah Richards and Shaun Wright Phillips for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.

The unique collection of images portraying anatomical representations of the bowel are specifically timed to launch on St Georges Day and coincide with Bowel Cancer Awareness Month.

The campaign will feature exclusive interviews and a viral campaign produced by the players` Team England Footballers Charity as part of their support of the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.

The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK aims to raise awareness of the shocking statistics associated with the disease that killed the former England captain, Bobby Moore aged just 51. The Fund endeavors to make more people aware of the symptoms of the disease and how to best reduce their risk of bowel cancer.

Stunning photographs of the England footballers taken by leading sports photographer, John Davis, are combined with cutting edge technology to reveal the inner workings of the body, drawing attention to the bowel with the message 'There is Moore to know`. Supporting the main images is a collection of behind-the-scenes shots captured by world renowned photographer, Terry O`Neill, who was a friend to Bobby Moore.

Rio Ferdinand said: "My England team-mates and I were shocked to find out that bowel cancer kills 44 people every day in the UK, especially when over eight out of ten cases can be treated successfully if detected early enough."

David James commented: "Lives can be saved if more people know about bowel cancer and can recognise the symptoms of the disease."

Theo Walcott added: "Bobby was one of the greatest footballers of all time; to die at 51 is too young. It is important to us that we make more people aware of the disease."

Stephanie Moore MBE, Bobby`s widow and founder of the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK said: "The support of the current England squad means so much to me and to the Bobby Moore Fund as a whole. Through this campaign, the players will help raise awareness of bowel cancer. Not only are we reaching a wide audience via the media and advertising outlets; selected images will also feature within bowel cancer leaflets and posters in doctors surgeries across the country. To have Terry O`Neill working with us on this project is also very special, Bobby would have been delighted."

The players chose to work with the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK following their decision, in 2007, to set up their own charitable trust - the Team England Footballers` Charity. Their ambition is to raise a minimum of £1 million for chosen charity partners ahead of the 2010 World Cup. Each member of the squad has signed up to donate both their international match fees and their time to support chosen charity partners to raise awareness of particular issues and make a difference to the lives of others.

The Team England Footballers Charity is managed by 1966 Entertainment Ltd. Terry Byrne, 1966 CEO said: "This campaign is one example of how the players are using their profile in a positive way for the benefit of others. In addition to this campaign the players have raised vital funds for bowel cancer research by donating their international match fees to the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK. Their work extends to other chosen charity partners and the players are ahead of schedule to reach their goal of raising £1 million by the end of the year."
