Macken insists Reds will bounce back

Barnsley striker Jon Macken insists the Reds are determined to put a recent run of bad form to an end at Ashton Gate this weekend.

Speaking to the club`s official website:

"We have had a very up and down season so far. We started badly and then had a spell where we were winning a lot of games. We are on a bit of a dip again now and we have to end that. We have been very disappointed with our last three results."

Bristol City is no easy trip, especially with the Tykes ready for a South Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday the following Tuesday.

"We have to go and get back to winning ways. We have to pick ourselves up and move on now. Bristol City are a tough side but we cannot go there and hide from things. We have to face up to them, take the criticism when it is deserved and go out and beat them."

The 31-year-old front-man bagged himself a goal the last time Barnsley visited Bristol but the Reds did eventually succumb to a 3-2 defeat.

"We cannot wait for the next game. We want to turn it around and get the right performance and result. We just have to concentrate and play well."

Barnsley have lost four matches on the bounce and have only scored once in this year.
