Reds do Chengdu

Barnsley boss Simon Davey will have been satisfied with his side`s 2-0 win over the Cheng Du Blades at Oakwell last week.

Iain Hume showed a great goldeneye to produce a rare header from Jamal Campbell-Ryce who almost put the Reds in front after two minutes. But the Chengdu 'keeper was equal to the little Jamaican`s effort.

It took Barnsley`s big Brazilian to break the deadlock in first half stoppage time, Dennis Souza poked home a loose thunderball after Chengdu failed to clear a corner kick.

Jon Macken doubled the Red`s lead from the penalty spot after Iain Hume was upended in the area, the frontman celebrated by pointing his goldfinger up into the air.

The Chinese side were suddenly overcome with a view to a kill as the referee had to produce two red cards in the remaining quarter of the game.

Demar Stewart was first to be sent for an early bath, or whatever he fancied to cleanse himself of the Oakwell soil. Stewart kicked the living daylights out of Devaney with a tackle from behind on the edge of the Chengdu box.

Li Tie then thought he had a license to kill as he chopped down Kayode Odejayi, the Chinese international was dismissed after seeing his second yellow card.

All in all a decent workout for the Barnsley boys, but the real benefit was for Simon Davey`s eyes only, who has now decided his starting XI for Saturday`s trip to Loftus Road.

Demar Stewart was on our books, obviously been learning from the pro..ie Mr Morgan!! Wang Song the Chinese forward is a very good player, just don't get him mixed up with the 80s group...he didn't sing Dance Hall Days!
