Big Stan Moving On
Barnsley manager Simon Davey has revealed that Istvan Ferenczi will leave Oakwell in the next few days.
Davey told the club's official website: 'It has always been a dream of Istvan's to play for the biggest club in Hungarian football and we were not prepared to stand in his way at this stage in his career.'
Ferenczi was one of a handful of players made available for transfer by Davey at the end of last season. Paul Reid left for Colchester United and Dwayne Mattis joined Walsall. Andy Johnson remains on the transfer list.
Istvan Ferenczi joined Barnsley on a permanent deal on January 31st 2007 netting 6 goals in 14 starts to help ensure the reds' Championship survival.
His passion and aerial prowess were just two of the things that endeared the 6'3' striker to Barnsley fans and earned him the nickname 'Big Stan'.
Ferenczi's 2007/2008 record was also fairly decent. He grabbed 6 goals from 29 starts in the league and cup but evidently this was not enough to earn his place in Davey's squad for the next season.
According to Barnsley's official website, the club have accepted an undisclosed bid and Big Stan will return to his homeland to join 2nd Division Hungarian side Ferencvaros in the next few days.
