Barnsley beat Buxton

Barnsley beat Buxton

Barnsley got their pre-season underway with a comfortable 4-1 win over Unibond Premier side, Buxton.

The Reds had three debutants in their starting line-up in the shape of El Haimour, Colace and Hume.

The four goals came thanks to the experience of Jon Macken and youthful Jamil Adam.

The host`s goal came thanks to a strike from Gavin Knight just before the break.

With no disrespect to Buxton, Tykes fans will have to be patient in allowing the two new foreign boys time to settle in, as a pre-season debut at a drenched Unibond team`s ground is hardly the ideal start for any player.

Here`s how the Reds lined up and the seven changes that were made at half time:

Steele; Hassell (Atkinson), Souza (Potter), Foster, Kozluk (Van Homoet); Leon (Togwell), Colace (Johnson), Howard (Butterfield), El Haimour; Macken, Hume (Adam).

The Reds make another short trip to face Glossop this afternoon, where Barnsley will have another nice run out to boost their fitness.
