Barnsley sign Argentine midfielder

Defensive midfielder Hugo Roberto Colace has signed for Barnsley from Newell's Old Boys.

A delighted Simon Davey told the club`s official website:

"This is a massive coup for our club. Hugo is a tremendous talent and has a very good pedigree after playing for the Argentinean national team right through to U-21 level".

Colace helped the Argentines to fourth place in the FIFA World U-20 cup back in 2003.

"He is technically an outstanding footballer and we cannot wait to start work with him here. We are delighted to have brought him in and we`re sure he`ll have a big part to play for us next season."

However the deal is yet to be officially conformed with the relevant paperwork being sent off and also international clearance.
