Expect more fresh faces at Barnsley

Simon Davey`s hunt to bolster his Barnsley side is still very much underway.

The Welsh boss hopes to have all of his targets in at Oakwell ahead of pre-season training, giving time for his new squad to gel ahead of the 2008/2009 campaign.

The £1.2 million signing of striker Iain Hume may have gone someway in improving the bookies` odds on Barnsley`s chances of winning the league. Alongside Blackpool, the Red`s were 100/1 to win the Coca Cola Championship, placing them as favourites to be relegated despite this being their third consecutive season in the second tier of English football.

Davey is expected to bring in three more new players in time for July 1st, one of which is understood to be another striker.

The only way forward for the Reds is to spend money, as this season proves to be Showtime for Simon Davey. The current squad is now his squad and hopefully he can prove that he is in fact the right man to take Barnsley FC forward.
