'If It's Football, It's Vital'

No news is good news?

With everything at Oakwell seemingly 'all quiet`, is having no news actually good news?

While the reds play it quiet on the transfer front, the likes of Forest are already splashing the cash around.

Although all reds fans know how their manager likes to play with his cards annoyingly close to his chest, but many will be hoping for the Welsh boss to bring in a prolific striker, someone who can boost the Tyke`s Championship campaign.

Meanwhile, Barnsley midfielder Brian Howard has yet again been linked with a move to a Premier League club. Bolton have apparently joined the chasing pack for the twenty five year old after Howard pleaded with the Barnsley owner to offer him a new deal or allow him to leave.

Whether a move to the Reebok would be a wise idea for Howard, with Bolton renowned for their powerful approach to the game, the former Swindon man`s 'cute` style would definitely not fit in under Gary Megson.

As long as some of these clubs can put their money where their mouth is, Barnsley fans won`t be too disheartened when Howard inevitably departs Oakwell.

After your great cup run last season it will have brought a lot of your players to the attention of others.

I seriously doubt that no news is good news in this case. It could be that the manager is just keeping his cards close to his chest, and does not want to alert other clubs to potential targets. Something which several clubs seem to be doing now to prevent them from getting into a bidding war, and further inflating the transfer market.
