Barnsley Cryne out for striker

Barnsley`s owner Patrick Cryne has signalled his intention to bring in a striker and left winger ahead of next season.

The Barnsley born businessman is keen to back club manager Simon Davey this summer as the reds look to improve on Championship survival.

Cryne told the Sheffield Star: "We'll focus on a striker and maybe a natural left winger. You should expect to see changes less radical than the previous year.

The reds made wholesale changes last summer as Simon Davey revamped the dressingroom, although this season the Welsh gaffer will have to ship in and ship out if the reds are to balance the books:
"We will need to make some changes because each year you have to reassess your position for recruitment.

"So we would expect the club to bring in key players in key positions, like another striker.

The Tykes only managed to hit the net 52 times this season, with 17 being away from home - the lowest amount of away goals scored in the Championship.

Cryne continued: "Generally I think everyone recognises that we've created a lot of chances and not converted them."

The likes of Kim Christensen and Miguel Mostto will more than likely be on their way out, as the two frontmen managed only a goal each all season.
