Cracking Kayode Odejayi nets joint-best in latest Index

Kayode Odejayi bagged the joint-highest score in the latest round of matches in The Actim Index, the official player ratings system of the Coca-Cola Championship, to boost Barnsley`s survival hopes.

The Nigerian, 23, posted 65 points from two games; a season-high 50 of those coming in the 3-0 win at promotion-chasing Watford before adding another 15 in the 2-1 victory at Preston. It moved him to 287th in the Index with 192 points.

Team-mate Stephen Foster was the top-scoring defender in the Index with 56, including a season`s-best 34 points away from home at Deepdale. It lifted him to within three places of the top 100 with 374 points.

Barnsley have two players in the top 100, Brian Howard sitting 68th with 415 points and Dennis Souza in 86th with 398 points.

Analysis of all Championship games is taking place throughout the season and so far the top five Barnsley players are:

Player Ranking Position Ranking Index Score

Brian Howard, 68th, 17th-Ranked Midfielder, 415

Dennis Souza, 86th, 23rd-Ranked Striker, 398

Lewin Nyatanga, 108th, 36th-Ranked Defender, 362
