Burnley v Barnsley - Preview

Burnley v Barnsley - Preview

It simply cannot be stressed just how important it is that Barnsley pick something up from Turf Moor today.

Having picked up only one win on the road this season, and the reds edging ever closer to the relegation zone, things don`t seem to get much tougher than a trip to Burnley who are in fact still within a shout of the play-offs.

Something that will be playing on the mind of red`s boss Simon Davey will be his side`s recent attacking performances, in which the reds have fired blanks in eight of their last twelve games.

Although the Barnsley boss has kept faith in his current strikers by refusing to bring anyone else in on loan before Thursday`s deadline.

Team News

Barnsley are said to be without Dennis Souza (head), Brian Howard (knee) and Kayode Odejayi (ankle), although everyone knows how the red`s boss plays with his cards close to his chest, so it wouldn`t be surprising to see Howard and Odejayi in the starting line-up.

The home side could be boosted by the return of loan-duo Stanislav Varga and Andrew Cole; the latter could prove a threat to Barnsley`s woeful away record.

Let`s just hope that Barnsley can reproduce some of the FA Cup magic over at Turf Moor today and come away with at least a point or maybe, just maybe, a certain Mr Howard might turn in the winner.
